"Go into all the world..."

The purpose of The Call is to raise up Christian servants and equip them with a tool for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Once equipped, an individual can then share his or her knowledge with another, training that person in sharing the gospel. The purpose of The Call is not to win souls to Christ; though God takes care of that in the process. It is to raise up a body of believers who can confidently share their faith, and who can then train others, whom can train still others.

The commandment of Jesus to "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature" does not apply only to the pastor of a local congregation. In fact, according to the Bible the pastor's responsibility is for "the equipping of the saints (us) for the work of ministry." It should be the desire of every believer to share the wonderful news of Jesus Christ with anyone, anywhere, just as this brother is sharing the good news in Macau, S.A. R China, to a resident of that city. Your "world" starts the moment you step out of the doors of your home. Jesus tells us that we should be sharing the good news "in Jerusalem, in Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth." Your Jerusalem is your town or community. That's where it starts. At Calvery Chapel Chino Hills, there is a sign that is attached to the walls above the exit doors that reads "As you exit these doors, you enter the mission field." We need to be ready to be used by God as He sees fit as we live and work in our "mission fields". That is what The Call is all about.

In the book "Evangelism Explosion", D. James Kennedy, the founder of EE, talks about friendship evangelism. He states, "Effective evangelism requires friendly relationships." It is this approach that is taught in The Call. Through friendly conversation we gain the trust of those we meet, and earn the right to ask them if they understand what their eternal destiny is. The gospel should never be presented in a forceful, shove it down your throat manner, but in a sincerely caring and compassionate way. The Bible says that God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. We should be of the same mind when sharing the good news of Jesus.

If you would like to become equipped to share God's good news in your mission field, whether that's your neighborhood or in another country, consider signing up for one eleven-week session of The Call training. To view the current schedule, click here.

Have you considered the possiblilty that God might be calling you to serve on a short-term missions trip, or even perhaps even become a missionary in a foreign nation full time? Many who have completed training in The Call have found themselves in nations around the world sharing the Good News of Jesus. We've put together a collection of photographs of some of these mission trips, to show you what God will allow you to do if you simply say to Him "Here I am, Lord, send me."
